Today`s Success Story figure is Chief Physician of Tambov Clinical Hospital № 3, Head of the Department of Intermediate Level Surgery of Derzhavin Tambov State University Alexander Viktorovich Baranov:

- When I graduated from the Faculty of General Medicine of Ryazan Medical Institute in 1992, I returned to the Tambov Region, where I was born, and began to work as a surgeon in the Surgical Department of Regional Clinical Hospital named after V. D. Babenko. 8 years later I became the Head of the Department and worked there for the next 10 years until 2010 Then I was appointed Chief Physician of Tambov Central Regional Hospital. I worked in this position until September 2017, when I received an appointment of Chief Physician of Tambov Clinical Hospital № 3, where I have been working by now.

Thus, I have been a healthcare worker for over 24 years. During this time, I became a high level certificate surgeon and received the top qualification
grade in the specialty of "Healthcare Management and Public Health". I was awarded the Certificate of Merit of the Tambov Region Administration, the Certificate of Merit of the Ministry of Public Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation, the Certificate of Merit of the Tambov Regional Congress of People's Deputies and the badge "Excellent Worker of Public Health".

Along with the work, I continue doing scientific research - I am a holder of a doctorate degree in Medicine and an associate professor, and since
2011 I’ve headed the Department of Intermediate Level Surgery of Derzhavin Tambov State University. Besides that, I am a member of the
Committee on Science, Education and Culture of the Tambov Regional Duma.

I consider myself one of those happy people who work within the specialty and enjoy it. In my opinion, RSMU provides the best higher education in
the country. The knowledge I gained during my student years has helped me a lot in my work.

Addressing current medical students I want to emphasize the importance of being drawn to this profession on a personal level and to stress that basic
fundamental knowledge is necessary for professional growth in the specialty (I received it at Institute).

Experience plays a great role in mastering the profession; you need to get to work as soon as possible, starting from the basics –nursing.
