NEW SPRING - NEW YEAR

As many rejoice the end of the winter season, others from various ethnic communities and diverse faith traditions celebrate Nowruz - the beginning of the new year. The holiday has changed over thousands of years that it has been celebrated. Peoples of different regions have preserved and developed various traditions, as well as added new ones.

On March 21, 2023 there was a meeting of the LANGUAGE TIME CLUB members at our university, dedicated to the international spring festival Nowruz. The festival of the spring equinox was widely celebrated by RSMU’s students from different countries.

Special guests of the celebration were representatives of national diasporas - Anastasia Borovikova (Moldavian Diaspora), Samir Garaev (Azerbaijani Diaspora), Zulaikho Kadirova (Uzbek Diaspora), as well as Svetlana Chizhkova - the regional chairman of the All-Russian Public and State Organization “Peoples’ Assembly of Russia” and the head of the Center of Interethnic Cultures.

In her opening speech Mariya Gordova, Vice-rector for Extracurricular Activity and International Issues, noted: “We are involved in the development of international relations between peoples and representatives of different confessions. So does Novruz uniting many peoples and cultures. So, may Nowruz bring everyone spring sunshine and warm days, as well as good luck and prosperity!”
