In December 2022 the III International Olympiad of Medical Students "Samarkand-2020" took place at Samarkand State Medical Institute (Samarkand, Uzbekistan). More than 60 RSMU students participated in the Olympiad online. 3000 would-be-practitioners and would-be-dentists from 76 higher medical educational institutions of Russia, Turkey, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and other countries competed in knowledge of fundamental and clinical disciplines.
Winners were chosen for each subject area where RSMU representatives had done their best:
- Medical Biology: 1st place - Svettsova Anastasia, nomination “Apprentice of Avicenna” - Beloglazova Sophia;
- Histology, Pathology and Embryology: 2nd place - Polikarpova Anna, nomination “Absolute Winner” - Enenkov Nikita;
- Human Anatomy: 3rd place - Brezhneva Polina;
- Therapeutic Dentistry: 3rd place - Krolius Ivan
- Orthopedic Dentistry: nomination “Clinical Thinking” - Saltykov Daniil
- English in Medical Communication: 2nd place - Lukanin Roman, 3rd place - Medvedeva Anastasia.
Lavrenyuk Evgeny Andreevich, an associate professor of the Department of Therapeutic and Pediatric Dentistry, PhD and scientific adviser of Ivan Krolius, a 4th year student of the Faculty of Dentistry, shared his impression of “Therapeutic Dentistry” competition: “It was an online contest for our students, that’s why first of all they had to provide a video of their practical task. For Ivan it was restoring a tooth. The second stage was a theoretical one. Students were interviewed online and had to answered tricky questions. Ivan Krolus did his best and managed to become one of the winners.”
