On October 3, 2019, students of Ryazan State Medical University held a large-scale action to support the 170th anniversary of Academician Ivan P. Pavlov.
This time “Lokomotiv” stadium hosted “Workout with the Champion” – a unique event that has been bringing together more than 3,000 people for eight years.
Before the workout RMSU students and staff took part in a city “gorodki” tournament – I.P. Pavlov`s favorite game - and warmed up having joined RSMU cheerleading and aerobics teams.
Head of the City Administration Elena Sorokina noted in her opening speech that Ryazan was proud of its higher education institutions with their strong scientific potential and motivated students.
RSMU Rector Prof. Roman Kalinin proudly mentioned that no other Russian city had ever arranged an event like that before. “I believe that year by year our initiative will develop. Probably schools and military institutions will join in, because everyone should lead a healthy lifestyle”, - the rector added.
The participants of the event worked out with Ryazan champions: Mikhail Pulyaev, an honored master of sports in judo; Ivan Kulakov, an international class master of sports of Russia in kettlebell lifting; Marina Vorobyeva, a world champion, and Anastasia Leshcheva, a master of sports of Russia in rhythmic gymnastics.
The workout ended with a large-scale flashmob: students of Ryazan State Medical University arranged a huge heart and the name of the famous scientist whose anniversary Ryazan is celebrating this year.
