Professor Martin Persson of Kristianstad University (Sweden) was the main guest at the 5th All-Russian Conference for Young Scientists and Students “Psychology and Medicine: Searching for Optimal Interactions”.
Martin Persson is a scientist, practitioner, and credentialed expert in the field of the delivery of social and psychological care to people with changes of appearance and negative body image. Mr. Persson`s specialization is methodological and methodical development of the training courses intended for doctors, psychologists and social workers in appearance psychology.
During his stay in Ryazan Prof. Persson gave a lecture about the origins of appearance ideals and beauty myths, causes of body dissatisfaction in the modern society and social and psychological adaptation of people with visible differences. M. Persson also held a workshop aimed at mastering skills of psychological diagnostics and consultation of the people showing signs of dissatisfaction with their body and appearance.
As Prof. Persson was interested in the organization of the medical education and delivery of health care in Russia he visited the RSMU Simulation Training Center and had an insight into the prospects of digital technologies use in the medical education. He also had a chance to visit Ryazan Regional Clinical Hospital where he discussed plastic surgery preoperative consultation with the plastic surgeon, Vladislav V. Ivanov. At the end of his visit to the Hospital M. Persson held a working meeting with the chief physician MD Dmitry A. Hubezov.
The tripartite meeting of Martin Persson with the Vice-Rector for Scientific Activity, Igor A. Suchkov, and the Head of the International Department, Mariya V. Gordova, was rather high-potential. During that meeting certain agreements on the organization of joint research work were reached.
